Welcome to Deniliquin Film Society!

The Deniliquin Film Society is a non-profit community group run by volunteers who enjoy watching good films on a big screen with other movie-lovers. We screen a film on the second Friday of each month at the beautifully renovated Deniliquin Town Hall.

We are a member of the Victorian Federation of Film Societies and, as a film society, we must adhere to rules based on the non-theatrical screening rights allocated to the films we screen. These rules allow us to screen films to members only and prohibit us from charging admission to screenings.

How does it work?
You pay a membership fee and then can attend all film screenings for free during that time. You can join for 3, 6 or 12 months and months are consecutive (for example if you get a 3-month membership in April, you can attend in April, May and June). Young people aged 13-17 years pay half price to be members. Children aged under 13 years can attend with an adult member. This means that we can't sell you a ticket at the door for a single screening but you can join up for 3 months (the shortest membership we are allowed to offer) for the very reasonable price of $20 and then you get to watch not just the film on the night but also the next two monthly screenings.

What does it cost?
Annual membership: $50 (adult), $25 (youth)
Six-month membership: $30 (adult), $15 (youth)
Three-month membership: $20 (adult), $10 (youth)

How do I join?
Our preference is for cash payment at a screening but you can also go to the Membership page on this site and register your email then pay online.

Do you want to help?
If you would like to join our committee or help out at a screening, email deniliquinfilmsociety@gmail.com. The more helpers we have, the more likely it is we can keep screening films.

Deniliquin Film Society history
We began in 1994 with films screened on 16mm film at the NSW Department of Ag in Charlotte St and we moved to the Edward Theatre in 1998 where we were occasionally visited by possums. The loss of that venue and the change from film to digital prompted a move to Intereach in 2006 where we screened predominantly from DVD.

The COVID pandemic saw the closure of the Intereach Neighbourhood Centre to out of hours use and South West Arts stepped in to provide access to their meeting room and big screen TV. Member numbers dwindled until the redevelopment of the Deniliquin Town Hall and some renewed energy from volunteers prompted a relaunch and a new and rather fabulous location.

In 2025 and 2026, we are sponsored by the Edward River Council and South West Arts.
